Intimate Jewellery for Women and Men – An Overview
Intimate Jewellery for Women and Men – An Overview
Intimate jewellery is popular with women and men alike and is worn on different parts of the genital area. We have set up an online platform for professional piercers where they can easily choose and buy from a wide range of different body jewellery categories including genital jewellery. Our wholesale online shop supplies piercing and tattoo studios throughout the UK.
Nipple piercings are sometimes classified as intimate piercings, but technically they are not. Intimate piercings consist of those placed in or around the male or female genitals. There are 23 different types of genital piercings and the selection of genital jewellery we offer for the different types is huge. The choice of what materials to use for intimate body jewellery is of great importance, especially for initial piercings.
As a wholesaler, we recommend only using hypoallergenic materials to professionals in order to avoid complications during the healing process. As initial genital jewellery we only recommend using items made of 316 surgical steel and ASTM F-136 titanium (Ti6Al4V ELI). Once the piercing has fully healed 14K gold or higher grade like 18K is another great option as is Bioplast. If you are interested in using genital jewellery made of 925 sterling silver, we highly suggest consulting your piercer beforehand. In general, jewellery made of 925 sterling silver is not recommended to use for this purpose as it can tarnish and lead to skin irritation or even infections in the intimate area.

Anatomy is an important factor when choosing genital piercing jewellery, as the size and shape of a particular piece of jewellery may not be suitable for the customer.
For women, even though aesthetics play a role in the selection of genital piercings, sexual stimulation is also an important factor. Therefore, Christina piercings are often a preferred choice. For this type curved barbells and surface barbells are used, which are available in different colours and designs in our wholesale body jewellery online shop. Different sizes from 16g (1.2mm), 14g (1.6mm) to 12g (2.0mm) are also supplied.
For men, aesthetic reasons are by far the most important factor when deciding to buy genital piercing jewellery. However the motivation to have a stimulating effect on the partner can be a factor too.
A popular type of intimate jewellery among men is Prince Albert jewellery which is available as ball closure rings (BCRs) and flat segment rings. You can find more information about the different types of genital piercings and the most suitable jewellery for each of them in our wholesale online store. We offer a wide range of high quality products for many different genital piercing types at fair prices.
The most well-known intimate piercing jewellery is presented in the following overview:
Genital Jewellery for Men
Frenulum Piercing
This type is inserted just below the foreskin in order to prevent the thin ligament from tearing out. Piercing the thin skin is uncomplicated and the healing process is quick – 2 to 8 weeks – therefore, frenulum body jewellery is often recommended for initial genital piercings.

We offer a wide variety of frenulum jewellery in our online shop such as Ball Closure Rings (BCRs), barbells, curved barbells, spirals or circular barbells. For more comfort it is better to go with smaller sizes.
Foreskin Piercing
As the name implies, this one is pierced into the penis foreskin. Foreskin piercings are easy to insert and usually heal within 2–8 weeks.

This type is easy to stretch and is usually pierced in pairs. It can also be worn by circumcised men, in which case it is placed in the shaft. The foreskin is not very sensitive and the genital jewellery can be inserted relatively painlessly, just like with a frenulum piercing. That is why this type is often used for initial genital piercings.
In our wholesale piercing shop you will find a huge variety of foreskin jewellery, such as rings made of gold and titanium, circular barbells and ball closure rings.
Prince Albert Piercing
The Prince Albert is one of the most uncomplicated genital piercings to perform due to its short piercing channel and the fast healing process. It is pierced through the urethra and exits the frenulum – the lower foreskin ligament.

The healing time of a Prince Albert is relatively short and usually only takes around 4–8 weeks. However in some cases it can also take up to 12-16 weeks to be fully healed.
This type of intimate body jewellery is usually worn for aesthetic reasons. The most popular forms are ball closure rings (BCR) or segment rings with a gauge of at least 2.4mm.
Depending on the preference, Prince Albert piercings can be stretched further to accommodate larger gauge jewellery after the healing process is complete.
Dydoe Piercing
This type is preferred by circumcised men because it is pierced into the edge of the glans.
The Dydoe is one of the most painful piercing types and is therefore only recommended for “experienced” genital body jewellery wearers.

When looking at the healing time of this piercing type, it should not underestimated and can take between 2-6 months.
The selection of jewellery for dydoe piercings is very limited as only bars are suitable to be placed into the edge of the glans. Therefore, only curved and straight barbells should be used. Rings can often grow out and leave unsightly scars.
Ampallang Piercing
This type is not recommended for men who are getting their genitals pierced for the first time as it requires a lot of experience from both the piercer and the piercee.

The Ampallang is pierced horizontally through the glans and crosses the urethra or goes through just above it. Inserting the piercing through the urethra offers some advantages. It may sound strange, but your own urine will help to clean the piercing channel and fasten the healing process, which can take up to 3-6 months.
Bars are normally used for Ampallang piercings and are sold in professional intimate body jewellery shops in various sizes and high quality materials. The initial jewellery needs to be large enough to accommodate any swelling that might occur.
Genital Jewellery for Women
Christina Piercing
It is very popular among women. Christina Piercings do not have a stimulating effect, but are often worn for aesthetic reasons. They are considered as surface piercings and are placed at the top of the venus mound.

Christina jewellery is sold as curved barbells and surface barbells. The most common intimate jewellery types for initial Christina piercings are curved barbells made of G23 titanium, 316 surgical steel or PTFE. We recommended PTFE because it is not only very flexible but also the most comfortable of these materials.
Similar to navel piercings, Christina Piercings need about 2-4 months until they are completely healed.
Clitoral Hood Piercing
As the name indicates, the jewellery is pierced through the clitoral hood. It is available in two versions and can be inserted vertically or horizontally.

Our online shop offers genital jewellery for the clitoral hood in the form of curved barbells or ball closure rings (BCR’s). BCRs are pierced horizontally, while curved barbells are inserted vertically. The materials used for these are mainly 316L surgical steel and G23 titanium.
The healing process is usually very quick and only takes 2-4 weeks. During this period, you should protect the pierced area and avoid sex.
Nefertiti Piercing
The Nefertiti is a combination between a Vertical Clitoral Hood Piercing and a Christina Piercing; because the upper end is positioned on the mound – similar to the Christina – and the lower end is located just above the clitoris, under the clitoral hood.

The estimated healing time for the Nefertiti is between 3 to 6 months.
We recommend a flexible pin made of PTFE as initial nefertiti jewellery to accommodate movement in the early stages and facilitate healing. After healing is complete a straight barbell can then be used.
Labia Piercing
The labia piercing is one of the oldest types of genital piercings and is quite common nowadays.
Depending on the anatomy of the piercee as well as personal preference, both the inner and outer labia can be pierced. The healing time is 2-4 weeks for the inner labia and 2-8 weeks for the outer labia.

Several pieces of genital jewellery can be worn on the labia, depending on the anatomical characteristics of the wearer. Intimate jewellery worn in pairs in particular is becoming increasingly popular. Our wholesale online store offers various types of intimate jewellery like ball closure rings, barbells, circular barbells and spirals. The most common ones are BCRs, but circular barbells or spirals are also used very often. Normally, genital jewellery attached to the labia has no stimulating effect.

Recommended Sizes
When buying genital jewellery, the anatomy of the wearer plays an important role in the selection process. Men most often use ball closure rings for Prince Albert piercings. With this type of jewellery it is recommended to choose a ring with a gauge of at least 2.4 mm, otherwise there is a risk of cuts. Wearers of Prince Albert jewellery also often gradually stretch their piercing beyond 2.4mm.
Christina piercings are a very popular type of genital piercing for women with studs being the most commonly used form of jewellery for these.
Since the anatomy of the genital area differs from woman to woman, jewellery sizes differ as well. However, the gauges are almost always 1.6mm, whereby the length can vary between 15mm and 30mm. The most suitable genital jewellery type in these lengths are curved barbells made of PTFE because they adapt to the movements of the woman and improve the wearing comfort.
We provide genital jewellery in forms of curved barbells or straight barbells in the sizes 14g (1.6mm), 12g (2.0mm) and 10g (2.5mm). The length can vary, but is generally between 10mm – 12mm.
In our wholesale piercing online store you can buy skin-friendly Christina and Prince Albert Piercing jewellery as well as many other types of genital jewellery.
Best Quality Materials
An important aspect is the selection of the right material, this applies not only to genital jewellery, but to all types of body jewellery. For initial piercings, jewellery made of 316L surgical steel, 14K gold (or higher purity grades), ASTM-F-136 titanium (Ti6Al4V-ELI) and PTFE is preferred as these materials are biocompatible and complication-free. All products that are offered in our online piercing shop meet European standards and go through several quality controls.
